Background

The garment industry faces significant environmental challenges related to water usage, waste generation, energy consumption, and resource efficiency. To address this, a project was initiated to create a guideline tool (e-toolkit) for garment factory employees. This e-toolkit aimed to raise their environmental awareness in four key sectors: Water, Waste, Energy, Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP).

The initial version (Module Water) created by the Philippines team wasn't approved by the client (PUMA).

Objectives

• Develop a comprehensive e-toolkit encompassing four key areas: Water, Waste, Energy, Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP).
• Ensure the e-toolkit functions effectively both online and offline.
• Localize the e-toolkit content for the target audience.

Responsibilities

• Joined the project team to lead the re-design and development process.
• Project roadmap management.
• Conducted user research and analysis to understand the needs of garment factory employees.
• Designed user-friendly and informative content for each module (Water, Waste, Energy, RECP).
• Localized the content to ensure cultural relevance and comprehension.
• Developed the e-toolkit platform to function seamlessly online and offline.

Results

The redesigned SAVE E-toolkit, successfully exceeded expectations. The project not only achieved client approval but also delivered impressive results:

• Early Release: The toolkit was completed a full one month ahead of schedule, demonstrating efficient project management.
• Cost Savings: Through strategic planning and design decisions, we achieved a 12% cost reduction compared to the initial budget.
